prayer fellowship

| Prayer Fellowship meets once a week from 7:30 -9:30 p.m. on Tuesday nights in the home of church members. Men and women gather together to sing songs and to share praises and prayer needs. Each week a theme is selected, usually highlighting an attribute of God. Some themes have been “The Lord our Peace”, The Lord Heals”, “God is Compassionate,” “God is Wise” and “God is our Deliverer.” Scriptures relating to God's attribute for that week are read and reflections are shared. The men and women pray separately from 8-9 p.m. The women pray conversationally starting with Praise, followed by Silent Confession, Thanksgiving and Intercession. We praise God for who He is, confess our sins silently, thank God for answered prayers and blessings, and end with praying for one another and lifting up individuals to God, interceding for them. The men read and discuss the Scriptures, share testimonies and personal reflections. We conclude the evening with food and fellowship. |

The United Methodist Women are a dedicated group of women engaged in a creative, supportive fellowship whose primary goal is to support local and global missions, especially those pertaining to children, youth and women. We meet for worship, study, fellowship and strategic mission fundraising. Some of our projects have included knitting blankets and hats for Afghanistan, making scarves for City Team Ministries, sending packages to college students, supporting UMCOR ministries, raising funds through luncheons.We especially encourage them to try one of our yearly retreats, which have been fantastic times with the Lord, refreshing our spirits and spurring us on to service for God! |

| The United Methodist Men (UMM) meets six to eight times a year at the church for fellowship and service. Most of the meetings, which number anywhere from 8-12 fellows, involve doing a short meditation with prayer, with an activity. Some activities include minor repairs and replacement projects around our church. Our practice has been to designate a day and time as projects arise and invite men to participate. Sometimes all church members, men and women, are invited to take part in seasonal clean up days, especially around Christmas and Easter. Currently, Charles Ho and Alfred Wong organize this unique bunch of guys. |

| Young Adult Fellowship (YAF) is a fellowship for christians between the ages of 18 and 40, plus others who want to join in. This is a fellowship focuses on balancing career, family, spirituality and serving the church community. Usually meetings consist of dinner and a topical study/discussion, followed by fellowship. The YAF also participates in or lead Praise Nights, sports days, study nights, movie nights, wine dinners. The YAF has support Joint YAF Fellowships for the surrounding churches in the Bay Area. YAF meets weekly on Saturday nights at various members homes. |

Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) is the fellowship for middle schoolers and high schoolers at CCUMC. We learn about Christian life, participate in community service events, and simply get to know each other while having fun. Past events have included youth lock-in overnights, pumpkin carving, making Christmas greeting cards, assisting CityTeam Ministries, and supporting the Church World Service Crop Walk. MYF encourages youth from the Oakland Chinatown community as well as the surrounding local cities- come and join! We meet on Sunday at 12:15 PM, after the English worship service. |
hiking fellowship

| CCUMC Hiking Fellowship - This enthusiastic bunch of “trek pole-ers” takes on some of the tamest as well as the most challenging trails in the immediate Bay Area. Sometimes we'll venture out as far as Point Reyes National Seashore and other times we'll drop onto a single track trail right in the heart of Oakland. We try new trails as well as revisit our favorites. In the past five years, we've had several outings which included those as well who wished to bicycle thus extending their range. With few exceptions, hikes take place on the first Saturday of the month. Let's lace up our boots, it's time to "take a hike!” |

Parents with Kid's
Fellowship as in the name, is a group of parents and their kids. We
get together and study the word and support each other through the
different stages of parenthood. Each time we meet we have a mom &
dad assigned to take care of the kids and lead a short lesson while
the rest of the parents have their own Bible Study. The PK fellowship
invites those who are parents and kids to come out and join
us. Together we can help support each other grow spiritually through
the word of God and build a Christ centered family.
